Beginning of insurance relationship
The insurance relationship with the sickness fund begins when the the 7th full month of employment starts and you have at least 10 working hours per week according to your employment contract. The insurance fee (20 euros per month) is deducted from your salary. The fund orders new Kela cards for insured members, with the marking “Työpaikkakassa 48014” on the back. Card is delivered to home address within about two weeks. If you do not receive a Kela card with the fund’s marking, please contact the fund. Unpaid absences
Insurance relationship remains in force during periods of unpaid leave. However, you are not eligible for the fund’s additional benefits according to the fund’s rules. As an exception additional benefits are paid to members receiving Kela sickness allowance and, during the first three months of parental leave, to those who receive salary in addition to the Kela allowance. The insurance relationship ends when employment with HOK-Elanto ends or the weekly working hours fall below 10.
